Dolomites Hotel Valacia and Buffaure

Located in the heart of Val di Fassa, the Dolomites Hotel Valacia differs from the other hotels in Pozza di Fassa for its strategic position.

Actually only a few steps from the ski lift to reach the Buffare ski area, we are located right at the foot of the return ski slope,

a piste which descends from the Ciampac-Buffaure ski resort all the way to the village of Pozza di Fassa. On your way up in the gondola lift,

you can admire splendid panoramic views of the Val San Nicolò just above Pozza di Fassa, and the Ciampedie above Vigo di Fassa.

Painted red at dawn and sunset, visitors of the valley are awarded with the spectacular Dolomite “show” known as Enrosadira.

Arriving at the top, you have 31 km of slopes at your disposal using the skipasses Buffaure, Val di Fassa-Carezza or Dolomiti Superski.

The prices for the 20xx season are already available online.

The slopes of the

Buffaure Ski Area

The Buffaure slopes offer fun for everyone, and thanks to the expert instructors of the Vajolet Ski School of Pozza di Fassa, even children and those venturing onto snow for the first time can ski around in safety.

On the other hand, the Fraine ski-school area is located in Pozza di Fassa (nowadays the municipality of Sén Jan di Fassa).  As the low-altitude site for the Vajolet Ski School, it is also ideal for children. Equipped with a playground, two “magic carpet” lifts and a small poma lift, it will allow children to learn to ski while having fun.  For high altitude enthusiasts, however, the Buffaure ski area is ideal, thanks to both it’s perfect exposure to the sun that allows skiing until late afternoon, and also to the connections that allow you to reach most of the surrounding ski areas such as Canazei, Arabba and Val Gardena and the entire Sellaronda circuit.

By purchasing the Val di Fassa Skipass it’s even possible to do the Panorama Skitour that connects up a great part of the valley, including Vigo di Fassa and the Catinaccio Ski area.  Thanks to the newly updated Vajolet chairlift, this resort can be easily accessed directly from Pera di Fassa.

Reaching the sunny snow-covered basin of Ciampac above Alba di Canazei, a well-equipped toddlers park and lots of fun await the little ones and those who want to enjoy a wonderful relaxing atmosphere in the snow.

For ski mountaineering enthusiasts, there is a route we recommend that starts just above The Dolomites Hotel Valacia and arrives at the Malga Monzoni refuge.  It’s even open in the evenings, for those who want a high-altitude dinner immersed in the beautiful nature of the Dolomites. If you prefer to get there without so much effort, a snowmobile service is also available by reservation, which will ferry customers from the area just above the Dolomites Hotel Valacia to Malga Monzoni and back, making this experience accessible to all.

On the way back, for the bravest and daring, there is a highly recommended alternative from Val Monzoni arriving just a few meters up from our Hotel.  It is possible to descend the valley on toboggans, along a small track that traverses enchanting woods that are even more spectacular illuminated by the light of the moon. A real adrenaline rush, and the perfect way to end an evening of good food, excellent wine and good company.

The “Sellaronda”

or Giro dei Quattro Passi

More experienced and active skiers can start from Pozza di Fassa, to cross the entire Buffaure Ski resort, take the famous Ciampac black run down under the new Doléda cable car to Alba di Canazei, which will take you to the top of Col dei Rossi in the Canazei ski resort in only a few minutes.  From there you can enjoy continuing around the Sellaronda circuit in either a clockwise or anticlockwise direction.   Also known as the “Giro dei quattro Passi” (the 4 famous Dolomite alpine passes), it comprises the largest ski area in Europe, passing over the Pordoi Pass, the Sella Pass, the Gardena Pass and that of Campolongo.  The Dolomites Skitour also affords splendid views across to Marmolada, overlooking the Fedaia pass and its stunning lake.   If you purchase the Dolomiti Superski Pass, you can begin with your skis already on your feet directly at the Hotel in Pozza di Fassa and ski across the Buffaure resort to the cablecar that directly accesses the Sellaronda.  The Dolomiti Superski 20xx ski pass prices are available online. Our guests can also buy a ski pass for their holiday in the Dolomites directly from the Hotel upon arrival.

 Dolomites webcams

and ski maps

Thanks to the many webcams at Buffaure and throughout Val di Fassa, located in all the main ski areas, you can observe slope conditions in real time in order to check the weather and decide where to spend your day in the snow.  Or you can look for the best places to go free-riding in safety in Val di Fassa, without taking risks if the snow is fresh.

Snow and weather webcams are available through our website at the top right of every page, and also through the APT Val di Fassa website together with interactive maps of the Sellaronda and other Dolomites ski resorts.

The 4-star Dolomites Hotel Valacia in Pozza di Fassa is therefore ideal for those looking for a winter holiday of fun in the snow, our guests can return directly to the hotel by ski and then enjoy a moment of relaxation in our Spa and rest in one of our beautiful rooms.  You will find all prices for daily ski passes, additional days and seasonal passes at the following links:
